Monster truck racing started in the mud back in the 1980’s. As an extension of mud racing, monster truck racing has certainly grown beyond the muddy trenches dug out in the middle of a fairground. Occasionally, we’ll tap back into our roots. Our day in Boonsboro, Maryland last Saturday certainly honed in on the vivid imagery of watching 5 and a half foot tires cut through the muck.

After over 24 hours straight of nothing but downpours and high winds, the rain tapered off just in time to kick off a double-header day of muddy racing and freestyle action. Cory Snyder would make his first appearance back behind-the-wheel of “T1” – the original Toxic monster truck – in just under 4 years. As a driver who loves cracking off picture-perfect sky wheelies, his reintegration back into the higher center-of-gravity, shorter wheel base machine was seamless.

Snyder would take Toxic to the winner’s circle in freestyle at the afternoon event, but his groove was found for the evening event as he would execute a clean sweep – earning the fastest qualifier position and winning the best trick competition, racing bracket, and freestyle competition.

We would like to extend a sincere thanks to the dedicated fans of Washington County, Maryland for not only turning up to watch the home state team represent on the track but also brave the elements and record low temperatures at the evening event. Your cheers and unwavering support never goes unnoticed.
